Frequently Asked Questions
Is nutrition counseling covered by insurance?
Yes! Insurance typically covers 100% of nutrition counseling appointments with a Registered Dietitian. We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, and Medicare.
Do you offer meal planning?
Yes! We use a program called EatLove which allows your Dietitian to create a unique meal plan for you using AI. They can put in the nitty-gritty of nutrition parameters, health goals, and food preferences. You can swap out meals, and mix and match to further customize your meal plan.
How often do I meet with my Dietitian?
Typically patients will follow up weekly for the first month or two, then as they are progressing will go to less frequent appointments. Your plan of care is determined by you and your Dietitian.
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes! Our entire practice is telehealth. There is no physical office location. You’ll receive a telehealth link in your email 48 hours and 10 minutes before each appointment.
What happens in the first appointment?
The first appointment lasts about 90 minutes. Your Dietitian will go through an assessment with you regarding your medical history/lab work, food allergies/sensitivities, current habits around food, and more. Your Dietitian will go through their recommendations for you including using any tools at our disposal that would be helpful for you. This may include food tracking, meal planning, journal prompts, nutrition education, and more. You will set up short-term and long-term goals with your Dietitian and then make follow-up appointments.
How long are follow-up appointments?
Follow-up appointments are typically 60-minutes long, although you and your Dietitian can discuss what may be appropriate for you. They can be shortened to 30-minutes or lengthened to 90-minutes.
Do I need to upload labs?
If you have recent lab work your Dietitian would love to see them! It helps to have that information so that your Dietitian can see exactly what you’re dealing with and the severity of it. You can upload them to your patient portal any time.
What times are appointments offered?
We have weekday, weekend, and evening availability for telehealth appointments. You can pick what is most convenient for you!
